A Precise Solution for Restoring Teeth
Inlays and onlays are indirect restorations, meaning they are custom-fabricated in a dental lab to fit the exact shape of your tooth. An inlay fits neatly within the chewing surface of your tooth, while an onlay extends over one or more of the tooth’s cusps. Made from strong, tooth-colored materials like porcelain, they are a more conservative and long-lasting alternative to large fillings. They also help to:

The Inlay & Onlay Process
Receiving an inlay or onlay typically requires two visits. During your first appointment, Dr. Wierchowski will carefully remove the decayed portion of the tooth. A precise impression is then taken and sent to a dental lab, where your custom restoration is meticulously crafted. A temporary filling will be placed to protect your tooth while you wait. On your second visit, the temporary filling is removed and your new inlay or onlay is permanently bonded in place, creating a beautiful and seamless result.
